Canter Launches Next Generation PIM Solution 

Product information management specialist Canter Oy is releasing the Adeona PIM software system that is based on the latest technology and challenges its competitors. The system provides product companies with new ways of increasing sales in both domestic and export markets.

Research shows that businesses lose up to 3.5% of sales each year due to product information being poorly managed or inadequately utilized in sales channels. “We have noticed that on average it takes companies four weeks to release new products into sales channels. This is largely caused by inefficient and error-sensitive product information management. Delays in bringing products to market result in missed sales opportunities, but good product information management allows products to be released to market in under a week. This has a direct positive effect on sales”, says Canter’s CEO, Patrik Palatz. “Our client, Oy Perkko, increased sales by 74% using a catalogue that would have been impossible to create without functional product information management”, Palatz continues.

Canter and its key personnel have been engaged in product information management for over ten years. Diverse experience of the needs of Finnish customers and a passion for developing a technically superior product have led to the next generation Adeona PIM system, which can be scaled to meet varied product information management needs without extra tailoring. Goals have been set high throughout the development process. “We decided to create the most user-friendly PIM system on the market, allowing companies to benefit from positively standing out through their customer-driven product contents — both in electronic and print channels”, says Canter’s CTO, Janne Costiander.

However, the software alone is not enough to boost efficiency or remove errors from product data. Upon deployment of the software, the entire process of product information management, as well as its related information flows, will be explained and updated to match the needs of rapidly changing markets. “A sensible product information model and centrally managed product information provide businesses with the ability to make fast changes in direction, for example by opening a new online store or expanding into new market areas”, says Janne Costiander.

Requirements tightening for packaging labels – a solution from Canter to bakeries and confectionaries

The Finnish Bakery Federation and Canter have signed a contract that allows for Canter and their partner Taito United to provide a recipe service RESPA for bakeries and confectionaries to use. This cloud-based service automatically produces the required information for food packaging labels, such as ingredients lists, allergens and nutritional values. This project was created due to the tightening requirements for packaging labels from 13.12.2016 onwards (European Union’s food information regulation).

Project RESPA is not only useful for bakeries, but also for commodity producers as the service allows them to deliver up-to-date information into the hands of client businesses at once. The information can be integrated into the service automatically. The service will include both the commodities and all the products mentioned in Fineli information bank, along with their relevant information.

Helvar polishes product information management processes with Adeona PIM

Specialised in energy-efficient solutions for the global market, Helvar will centralise its product information management with the Adeona PIM solution.

The lighting technology company publishes product information on its website, in printed product catalogues and in brochures, price lists and Excel spreadsheets targeting various resellers and market segments.

In the past, the company’s product information was scattered across different systems: on the website, in printed catalogues and in local area network shares. The major challenge has been managing the different language versions, which, with the eight languages to maintain, is not a surprise. Although the majority of the content is the same regardless of the language, it still needs to be updated separately for online publishing and for the printed catalogue. In addition, images and other documents had to be copied to the website and also to a separate media bank service.

The new media bank was published in April. Now the images and documents are automatically updated by Adeona PIM and the changes are reflected both on the website and in the media bank. In addition, automation can make industrious steps easier, such as updating product information in price lists and product catalogues with finished layout.

The new online stores of K-rauta and Rautia are taking advantage of Adeona’s rich product information

During the current year, Rautakesko has expanded its e-commerce activities in Finland. In April K-rauta e-commerce was published, in May it was Rautia’s turn and in June the new K-maatalous redesigned website was published. In Sweden, K-rauta e-commerce was published in the summer of 2014.

Foundation and processes that cover the comprehensive product information are built in Adeona carefully, which has facilitated the renewal of all network services. Data accuracy, speedy access and distribution ensure high quality of product information and distribution in all of Rautakesko’s online services.

The uniform appearance in the IKH price tags with Sales Tool

IKH implemented Adeona Sales Tool in over 130 stores all over Finland in order to uniform their price tags and make them appear more professional. It has made the creation of price tags fast and easy, saving money and headaches!

Prior to the implementation, each retailer handled the creation of the price tags, excluding chain-wide campaigns, themselves. This created varied tag layouts. With Sales Tool the layout creation and manual fetching of product information has been automated. Never the less, it is still possible for the retailers to alter the price of the product or the product information manually, if they so desire. All price tags also include a QR code, which the buyers can use to look up more detailed product information online while shopping.

Feedback from the retailers has been positive, and the new system has been received with joy:

I want to recommend the Sales Tool system, and extend my thanks to the marketing department for it! It works perfectly, and the overall look of the store has improved with the unified price tags. It also saves a ton of our time!
